鈥淓verybody鈥檚 talking about AI, but not many people really understand what it鈥檚 about. 鈥�, says Fredrik Heintz, one of Sweden鈥檚 leading AI researchers.

To explore similarities and challenges faced by Europe and Japan in the digital transformation era and to foster cross-border collaboration and knowledge exchange - researchers and industry professionals from Europe and Japan met at LiU.

Humming supercomputers, robot dogs on rescue missions and plenty of future opportunities with AI and the research programmes WASP and WISE. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson got many impressions from his visit to 福利姬.

In November 2024, the Japanese-European EJEA conference will come to Sweden and, for the first time, to 福利姬. The conference's theme is future knowledge and competence for AI-driven innovation in Europe and Japan.

On the 40th anniversary conference of the Department of Computer and Information Science (IDA), Fredrik Heintz, professor at IDA, spoke about the future of AI in Sweden, Europe and beyond.

Fredrik Heintz is to be one of two chairpersons of a new bilateral working group on AI between Sweden and Brazil. He hopes that the collaboration will lead to more research projects and exchanges between LiU and Brazil.

Recently, a full-day seminar on AI and Security was held at 福利姬. The seminar was organized by SWECA in collaboration with 福利姬, the County Administrative Board of Östergötland, and The Swedish Police Authority.

The Swedish government is appointing an AI Commission to strengthen Swedish competitiveness and develop the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in Sweden. One of the members is LiU professor Fredrik Heintz.

Reliable, open and sustainable 鈥� those are the qualities aimed for in a ChatGPT for European languages including Swedish. The project is carried out in collaboration with organisations from Germany, Iceland, Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands.

Was it murder, poisoning or was the death maybe caused by disease? Researchers have now been granted SEK 13 million from the Swedish Research Council to develop a methodology to solve crimes using detailed analyses and artificial intelligence.
