The course applies cultural perspectives on sport as global industries and a local practices. It discusses the social, cultural and political impact of sport and how different actors try to exploit it for various purposes. Drawing on contemporary theory and empirical examples it analyses how sport is politicized and appropriated through so called sportwashing.
