LEAD-IN: Leadership for Innovation (MOOC)
Learn how leadership is transformed in the era of Industy 5.0, what skills and approaches are required to build a successful organisation while cathcing up with the latest technological transformations while ensuring effective human-machine collaboration and social and environmental sustainaility.
LEAD-IN: Leadership for Innovation is not just another online course, but blended learning, where you first learn specific tools and the language of leadership, and then test them in interactive exercises, case studies and decision-making games. Participants learn the differences between managing and leading innovation, how to design an environment that fosters experimentation, learning from mistakes and knowledge sharing, and how to stimulate creativity. Working on real-world case studies (e.g., technology companies, organizations in crisis and transformation), in decision-making games, and using tools such as canvases and strategic scenarios, course participants step by step move from the role of manager to the role of leader.

Who can take the course?
This course is designed for bachelor and master students regardless of their major, who would like to learn the essentials of leadership for twin transition and Industry 5.0 and get the hands-on experience with real innovation challenges. No prior knoweledge on leadership or management is required.
Course structure
Navigate through the 5 core sessions, following the sequential flow designed to build your expertise. You will interact with a variety of research-driven activities, including:
- Theoretical Frameworks: Foundational knowledge on ecosystem mechanisms.
- Collaborative Forums: Peer-to-peer discussions on labor market transitions.
- Interactive Canvases: Online workshop tools for system mapping.
- Applied Learning: Real-world case studies and behavioral decision games.
Certificate
The certificate of completion is automatically issued once you meet the following dual criteria:
- Progress: Completion of at least 80% of all course materials and activities.
- Assessment: A minimum score of 50% on the comprehensive final online test.
Offline sessions
There are two offline sessions planned at LiU in May 2026 and December 2026. If you are a LiU students and enroll with this online course, you can then join the offline session.
