I am currently involved in two research projects. The first aims to map and analyse the phenomenon of “social dumping,” which refers to the practice whereby municipalities encourage or pressure residents receiving social assistance to relocate to other, often peripheral, municipalities with available housing. As part of this project, I also examine the demolition of multi-family housing in smaller municipalities and how such actions may be used as a strategy to counter social dumping. The second project explores gaps in the welfare safety net and the movements of people and costs that result from austerity and activation policies.
I hold a PhD in sociology from Lund University. My dissertation, Not a Real Job?, analyses and problematizes the growing presence of teenage students in low-paid service sector jobs. The study combines survey data from the Swedish Labour Force Surveys with in-depth interviews with working students.
