Educational assignments
I mainly work in the specialist nursing programs where I lecture, supervise, and examine projects at advanced level. In recent years, I have also been responsible for the master programme leading to an advanced nurse practitioner in surgical care.
I combine my adjunct at LiU with a position within Region Östergötland where I’m specialized in the pacemaker and ICD area and meet patients and family members who suffers from different rhythm disturbances.
Research
I defended my doctoral thesis in 2006 in the field of pre-hospital behaviour in acute myocardial infarction and have since then continued to study how the actions of patients, family members and the healthcare organization can affect the outcome for the patient in different ways. I have a special focus on what it is like to suffer from a sudden cardiac arrest, and how to live and die with an implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD). Here, too, I am interested in the perspectives of the patient, family member, and healthcare professionals.
My research also include experiences of suffering from spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) and how it affects physical and psychological wellbeing, and how the healthcare organization can organize rehabilitation in the best possible way. Together with other researchers and doctoral students, we also study various interventions to promote self-care, and improve and support the life situation in heart failure patients and their family members. Currently, I’m the main supervisor to three PhD students and co-supervisor to two PhD students.
