Vernissage and treasure hunt: Invocations

Welcome to the opening of the exhibition Invocations by visual artist Birthe Jørgensen, currently artist-in-residence at Environmental Change and Technology and Social Change, funded by the profile area Societal Transformations.

Birthe Jørgensen combines bric-a-brac, sculpture, sound, and writing to create site-specific bodies of work. She moves between solitary studio work and collaborations with people whose experiences, interests, or training differ from her own. Through such collaborations and a range of interdisciplinary research projects, she explores the generative potential of art to contribute to democratic repair, grounded in the belief that artists can bring care and complexity to polarised debates—such as those surrounding Sweden’s green industry transition.

Marking the start of her residency and playfully reimagining what an exhibition can be, Invocations takes the form of a treasure hunt that unfolds across space and evolves over time, as the exchange between art and science deepens during the year. Visitors to the exhibition are invited to explore Jørgensen’s works throughout Temahuset and Studenthuset, and to share their reflections in writing. Submitted reflections may later be incorporated into the evolving exhibition and related activities.

Light refreshments will be served.
