The research group is focused on therapeutic processes in psychotherapy and other treatment, particularly on how the relationship between therapist and client is linked to treatment outcomes (process-outcome). We conduct research and provide training in relational psychodynamic psychotherapy    (BRT), Interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) and mentalization-based approaches.

Furthermore, we are interested in interactional processes across various contexts, such as psychotherapy and other forms of treatment. One question that engages us is how the treatment process itself contributes to change.

Additional areas of interest include the development of therapists’ relational competencies and how these can be taught and developed through supervision and training. Further examples of interests within the group concern patients’ experiences of psychotherapy, treatment dropout, therapists’ experiences and approaches to different challenges in psychotherapy, ways to promote effective communication, and mentalization both as an individual capacity and as an interactional phenomenon.
