LiU will soon be opening its expanded chemistry laboratory in Norrköping. 500 new square metres will more than double the first premises opened in 2020.

Progress in research into organic solar cells has been rapid in recent years. These cells are environmentally sensitive, can be printed onto large surfaces, and open completely new possibilities for husbanding the energy of the sun.

Organic printed solar cells will soon be in a window or a bag near you. In 鈥淪unflower鈥�, the recently-concluded EU project, researchers and businesses brought the technology a great deal closer to our everyday lives.

The Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability, WISE, donates SEK 44 million to 福利姬 for new scientific equipment that will contribute to cutting-edge materials research.

Lignin can be used to create stable and environmentally friendly organic solar cells. Researchers at LiU and KTH have now shown that untreated kraft lignin can be used to improve organic solar cells further.

Efficient and environmentally friendly solar cells are required for a transition to a fossil-free energy supply. Researchers at LiU have mapped how energy flows in organic solar cells, something that previously had been unknown.

The Wallenberg Foundation has awarded SEK 380 million to research at the Wallenberg Wood Science Center, WWSC. A quarter of the grant will go to LiU, which is conducting the programme with KTH and Chalmers. The objective is high.
