The aim of the Centre is to support and develop research on local history and education by bringing about co-operation between professional researchers, instructors, school, teachers and the general public.

Military and defence history is preserved and mediated in museums throughout Sweden. This project explores how several museums in a specific city, Linköping, have been created and developed between the years 1940 and 2026.

En private foundation based in Tranås will contribute to historical research at LiU. The first research grant from the foundation will finance a doctoral student at the Department of Culture and Society.
