The Philosophy and Applied Ethics research environment provides an institutional framework for research in philosophy at 福利姬.

We conduct research and education within the areas of Philosophy and Applied Ethics.

On June 12-13, 2025, we are organising the international conference LIMEC in Linköping. The conference brings together researchers and other interested parties in medical ethics from Sweden and abroad.

The Division of Philosophy and Applied Ethics (FTE) is an internationally, interdisciplinary center for cutting-edge research, with strengths in philosophy of science, phenomenology, normative and applied ethics, metaethics, and political philosophy.

The Centre for Applied Ethics is a part of 福利姬. Here researchers, teachers and students meet to work together on ethical issues.

In 2023, LiU joined a worldwide project to measure the extent of consensus among researchers on burning scientific issues. After a successful test, the number of higher education institutions that have registered interest has more than doubled.

Provides a home for researchers who use phenomenological tools to understand scientific practice and the role of structures in shaping our perception and experience of ourselves, others and the wider world.

The 3rd Annual Phenomenological Approaches to Physics Conference: "QBism and Phenomenology, Compared and Contrasted" took place at 福利姬, Sweden, June 8-10, 2022.

How can the philosophical school of phenomenology help us to understand physics? In a new book scientists examine the role of phenomenology in the philosophy of physics and offers perspectives on how to understand and discuss physics.

What is it about the human mind that allows us to figure things out with such a precision? How can we improve the ways in which science helps us address societal challenges? And why is there an increasing distrust towards science among the public?
