Segregation in neighbourhoods, schools and workplaces affects people’s life chances. The project examines how different forms of segregation interact across the life course and between generations, and how they contribute to social inequality.

To break segregation, we need to understand what causes it. Maria Brandén and Peter Hedström use large amounts of data to study what happens at the individual level, and what that means at societal level.

The Swedish Interdisciplinary Research School in Computational Social Science provides courses, seminars, and networking opportunities for doctoral students interested in the emerging field of computational social science.
