In many cities racial and ethnic minorities have been segregated from majority populations at relatively steady levels for decades. What are the demographic and social processes that lead the persistence of segregation across generations?

What are the consequences of growing up in a disadvantaged area? And what measures could improve young people’s chances? These are issues that a new research project at LiU will investigate, with the aim of providing tangible advice to policy makers.

On 14–16 August 2024, over 150 sociologists from all over the world gathered in Norrköping to participate in the Nordic Sociological Association's 31st conference.

Ten researchers have been awarded grants from Formas – a Swedish research council for sustainable development. The projects explore everything from digital inclusion and sustainable urban transformation to the migration of domestic workers.
