As an increasing share of society becomes digital, the relationships and conditions shaping how society can and should be organised are changing. We study different approaches to governing and managing collective concerns in a digital age.

The division of Political Science conducts research and offers education at the basic and advanced level. Political Science is about politics, power and democracy.

We study how public policy is implemented and how governance, organisation, and collaboration influence democracy, efficiency, and legitimacy. The research covers public administration at the local, national, and European levels.

We study global and European processes and how conflicts, cooperation, and institutions are formed and evolve. The focus is on EU decision-making, global norms, international organizations, and migration.

As society becomes increasingly digitalised, people collaborate in new ways. We discover new opportunities while also facing new challenges. What was once stable is now being questioned. This is when new, sustainable welfare institutions are needed.
