As a postdoctoral researcher joining this initiative, you will help shape one of the most ambitious precision-health programmes in Europe.

Sweden is a global leader in life science and medical innovation. A key contributor to this success is the unique system of personal identity numbers, which enables nationwide healthcare data to be linked at the individual level. These linked registers have allowed researchers to harness large-scale longitudinal data to inform public health policy, guide medical decision-making, and fuel medtech innovation.

We propose an ambitious, large-scale national initiative to integrate longitudinal health register data dating back to the 1980s with digital medical images, and to enrich this foundation with genetic, epigenetic, and laboratory data where available. All data will be managed in secure, ethically governed research environments. This next-generation infrastructure will form a high-quality, unique resource for cutting-edge research and innovation in precision health, biomedical AI, and translational medtech.

As an example, we have prepared a dataset with some 400,000 x-ray images from some 17,000 femur fracture patients. We also have access to state-of-the-art hardware (the Berzelius cluster with more than 800 graphics cards, and some 20 local computers) for training deep models.

As a postdoctoral researcher joining this initiative, you will help shape one of the most ambitious precision-health programmes in Europe. Our group works at the forefront of multimodal data science, biomedical AI, and translational orthopaedics—linking nationwide registries, large-scale imaging, molecular data, and next-generation manufacturing into a unified research ecosystem. You will collaborate across disciplines, access unique national infrastructures, and contribute to methods and technologies that will directly influence future healthcare delivery. We welcome curious, driven postdocs who want to push scientific boundaries and co-create the foundations of tomorrow’s personalized medicine. Reach out to explore how your expertise can help advance this national effort.
