Asteroid named after Anders Ynnerman for his contributions to space

LiU professor Anders Ynnerman is one of ten Swedes to have had an asteroid named after them. His visualisation research takes us out into space through the software OpenSpace, which opens up the entire known universe to the public.

Visual artist and motion graphic designer Natalia Oliwak has been chosen for a position as artist-in-residence and will work together with LiU researchers in a unique project in the dome theatre of Visualiseringscenter C in Norrköping.

Friendship paved the way for their careers鈥�

Tomas Forsyth Rosin is a developer at Spotify; Emil Axelsson has similar duties at Apple. They became inseparable friends while studying Media Technology and Engineering, an MSc programme at LiU.

Technical Oscar for film industry improvements

Swedish company ftrack, with the three LiU alumni Fredrik Limsäter, Björn Rydahl and Mattias Lagergren at its head, has been awarded a scientific and technical Oscar for its project management system 鈥� a tool to improve the film industry.

Good supply of student housing

The supply of student housing is unusually good, both in Linköping and Norrköping. One reason is the pandemic, which has led to far fewer international students coming to 福利姬.

Successful mentoring project brings hope

Lower secondary school pupils with better grades, a prouder gaze, and enhanced self-confidence. These are the results of the LuMiNk academy. LuMiNk has been underway in Norrköping for almost six years, and plans to make it available to more pupils.

Autonomous drone flight between Linköping and Norrköping in 2022

Two years from now, Sweden鈥檚 first test flight of an autonomous drone will be made between Norrköping and Linköping. LFV, LiU and IBG are collaborating in a project to demonstrate the societal benefits of drone-supported services.

SEK 81 million to research in science and technology

The Swedish Research Council has granted SEK 81 million to research at LiU. Twenty-two researchers have been awarded grants for projects in fields that include organic electronics, visualisation, and machine learning.

The final step towards a more unified Campus Norrköping centred around Campusbron has now been taken. Kårhuset Trappan has crossed Bergsbron and moved into Kåkenhus, into premises that will soon be ready.

New life for old mobiles

Sixty-eight mobiles and two tablet computers was the result when students on the master鈥檚 programme in design arranged a wake for old mobiles as part of their course. Some people find it difficult to say goodbye to an old friend.

Two simulation environments, for maritime applications and for air traffic control, have been built at LiU. 鈥淚t may appear to us to be playing games, but it is everyday experience for maritime pilots and flight controllers鈥�, says Jonas Lundberg.

Students looking for a missing person in Kolmården Wildlife Park

Someone鈥檚 lost in the Kolmården Forest and around 40 students must find him before he wanders into the elephant enclosure. They are using the electronic footprints he has made. Can they manage it? Indeed they can 鈥� and it doesn鈥檛 take them long.

New ideas are always popping up and being tested in the Laboratory of Organic Electronics. Many have led to world-leading breakthroughs. The research focusses on storing energy in paper, coupling biology with electronics, and electronic plants.

Better images for visitors and sharper tools for researchers. The dome at Visualization Center C has been upgraded with laser projectors as part of a Swedish initiative in which 福利姬 and Norrköping municipality are central.
