Join a cutting-edge, hands-on course where you will explore, build, and test next-generation redox flow battery systems. A full‑time, five‑day course designed for professionals working in the energy sector.

The next-generation redox flow battery systems are a key technology for tomorrow’s green and resilient energy infrastructure. They represent a promising solution for large-scale electricity balancing and storage, which is becoming increasingly vital for future power grids worldwide. This course will give you practical skills by assembling and evaluating real redox flow battery systems.

This course is delivered by researchers at LiU:s Laboratory of Organic Electronics (LOE) and takes place in one of Sweden’s most advanced chemical laboratory facilities.

Target Group

Professionals employed within the energy sector such as Technical engineers, Chemists, Electrical engineers or other professionals interested in electricity storage solutions. Participants are expected to have basic knowledge in chemistry, physics, or electrical engineering.

About the course

Course content

The course includes:

  • Work in small groups to assemble a redox flow battery using components from Rivus AB.
  • Conduct leakage testing, charge/discharge cycles, and performance evaluation.
  • Navigate real technical challenges with expert support.
  • Present your findings in a final seminar focusing on results, troubleshooting, and lessons learned.
  • This practical course represents a unique opportunity to learn by doing.

Teaching and working methods

A practical laboratory course, where you engage in Challenge-Based Learning solving world problems using real industrial components. Participants will be divided into three working groups. Each group will assemble a redox flow battery using company products from Rivus AB. Throughout the laboratory work, participants will engage in discussion and reflection.

The course is offered at an advanced level, and the language of instruction is English. You will receive a certificate of study after completed course.

Commissioned education course

This is one of LiUs courses within commissioned education for professionals. The fee is payed by your employer. LiU can also offer tailored commissioned education for professionals, feel free to contact us if you are interested.
