I am a professor in the Fluid and Mechatronic Systems (FLUMES) department at the Institute of Economic and Industrial Development (IEI). My research focuses on hydraulic systems, with an emphasis on hydraulic displacement machines.

Controlling motions with fluid power with focus in hydraulic pump and motor

I do research in hydraulic systems with a focus on hydraulic displacement machines. The projects focus on electrically driven hydraulics and how hydraulic systems and components are changed to create an integrated sustainable system.

Fluid Power

LiU has the largest university laboratory for fluid power systems in Sweden. We aim to develop smarter and more energy efficient hydraulic systems, components and methods to reduce energy losses.

Research projects

Ehydraulics

The aim of the project is to promote the electrification of working machines. Neither the hydraulic systems nor the pumps are currently optimised for use with an electrical primary source of energy.

Electric motors are transforming hydraulics

Electrifying hydraulics on, for example, an excavator can significantly improve efficiency. However, it requires major technical changes. Electric machines have different characteristics compared to combustion engines.

Research is needed when electricity replaces diesel

Did you think that all it takes is changing an excavator鈥檚 diesel engine for an electric one? Well, it鈥檚 not that simple. The hydraulics can actually be adapted to the many advantages of the electric engine.

A hydraulic pump powered by electricity

Fossil-free applies also to heavy mobile working machines. Liselott Ericson, Flumes, has received SEK 11.6 million to collaborate with industry in developing technology that uses a hydraulic pump in electrically operated working vehicles.
