With a strong interest in sustainable urban logistics measures, Nicolas researches the construction supply chain鈥檚 disturbances and efficiency. His PhD focused on modeling the dynamic impact of construction transport on air quality.

Urban planning meets construction transport

Nicolas obtained his PhD in Economics at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Mobilise Research Group), where he focused on modeling the dynamic impact of construction transport on air quality.

During his bachelor鈥檚 in communication, Nicolas interned at telco Proximus (Brussels, BE), data visualization start-up (Leuven, BE) and route optimization start-up Badger Maps (San Francisco, CA, USA). His master's thesis focused on a methodological advancement regarding the dynamic exposure calculation to freight transport-related air pollution using mobile service provider data.

Currently, Nicolas is a post-doctoral researcher in construction logistics at Link枚ping University, Sweden, where his research revolves around urban development and logistics, and sustainable construction supply chains. He teaches the Sustainable and Digital Construction Supply Chains course as part of the Master's programme in Digitalized Construction. He also chairs the European NECTAR cluster on logistics and freight.

Digital Construction Supply Chains, 6 credits

The Sustainable and Digital Construction Supply Chains course combines sustainability and digitalization aspects within construction supply chains. The course focuses on the prerequisites, obstacles and opportunities for establishing, operating, and utilizing the connected construction site and its supply chain in a sustainable and smart way.
