PhD Student in Visualization & Media Technology with a Focus on Immersive and Situated Visualization Supported by Conversational AI
Are you interested in exploring how immersive visualizations empowered with conversational AI can transform the way we learn in public environments?
As a PhD student with us, you will investigate how we can develop the AI guides of the future – conversational partners that engage visitors in immersive exhibitions. You will be part of an interdisciplinary research project and collaborate with researchers in visualization and AI, and research engineers, educational scientists, and educators at Linköping University, the Visualization Center C in Norrköping, and Umeå University.
The Project aims to:
- Identify key characteristics of AI guides
- Study interactions between AI guides, educators, and visitors mediated by immersive visualizations
- Explore the combination of visual and verbal interactions to enhance engagement and learning in immersive exhibitions in public spaces using AI
The project is funded by the Marcus and Amalia Wallenberg Foundation and is led by Senior Associate Professor Mario Romero. You will join the research unit Immersive Visualization – where AI meets design, data, and learning. The unit is part of the Media and Information Technology division.
We are looking for candidates with a technical background, solid programming skills, and a genuine interest in the potential of Immersive AI in education.
