During your doctoral studies

As a doctoral student, you are admitted to doctoral studies in a third cycle subject area that belongs to one of the faculties at 福利姬.

For each subject area, there is a general syllabus established by the respective faculty or area board. You can find all subjects via the page Third cycle subject areas.

Information for you as a doctoral student is available partly on the faculty pages below, but also from your department on either liu.se or Liunet.

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences offers a wide variety of doctoral studies, both in single disciplines and in interdisciplinary programmes.

Doctoral studies at the Faculty of Science and Engineering

Doctoral studies at the Faculty of Science and Engineering aims to develop your ability to independently use scientific methodology and conduct research within the academy or the industry.

Doctoral studies at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences educates researchers across the entire medical field, ranging from basic experimental research to patient-oriented research, health sciences and public health.

Doctoral Studies at the Faculty of Educational Sciences

Around 80 researchers and doctoral students are currently active within the Faculty of Educational Sciences. During the last few years, research has been greatly consolidated in this area.

Research schools

Bengt Ihre Research School

This national research school is funded by the Bengt Ihre Foundation. The objective of Bengt Ihre Research School is to stimulate life-long careers with combined clinical practice and research.

Just Transitions Graduate School

The aim of Just Transitions graduate school is to build knowledge and competence around how to implement just climate transition in a local context. The graduate school is based on seven doctoral projects and a platform for knowledge exchange.

Graduate School in Computer Science, CUGS

The scientific scope of the graduate school CUGS at the Department of Computer and Information Science at 福利姬 includes central parts of core computer science and computer engineering.

Research School in Computational Social Science

The Swedish Interdisciplinary Research School in Computational Social Science provides courses, seminars, and networking opportunities for doctoral students interested in the emerging field of computational social science.

Swedish National Graduate School in Science and Technology Education Research

Lic-FontD is a network between 10 Swedish universities (2018) and includes local science and technology education research communities at participating universities.

CMIV Research School

The CMIV Research School offers a unique doctoral program designed for PhD students from both medical and technical backgrounds. At the heart of the program is close interdisciplinary collaboration, bridging the gap between healthcare and technology.

The PhD Student Survey

A survey that gives PhD students the opportunity to share their views.

The PhD student survey is carried out every other year and is sent to all PhD students with at least 1 per cent activity registered in Ladok. The survey is aimed solely at PhD students and addresses questions specific to that target group. The results are then used to further develop LiU's doctoral programmes.
