Among 600+ young scientists, she was also selected by her peers and the scientific chairpersons to present her research in the Open Next Generation Science Session, where her work on 3D bioprinting of plant-based living materials attracted significant interest.

In addition, she was selected to take part in the Science Communication Workshop on “Supporting and Building Public Trust in Science,” working in a small group to explore and develop strategies for effective communication, addressing misinformation, and strengthening trust in science within today’s media-driven society.

This unique experience significantly enriched her scientific, personal and cultural perspective. The mayor of her hometown in Italy, Castellana Grotte, awarded her with a recognition plate for her commitment to achieving excellent results in international scientific research. Erica also had the opportunity to leverage her experience for science outreach by giving multiple interviews to the Italian press.

Many congratulations Erica, we are very proud of you!
