I am Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering (IMT) and a researcher in systems biology. I also teach and supervise students in systems biology and in E-health.

Head of Department

As head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, I lead the department's work. Together with my colleagues, I want to create an environment characterised by mutual trust and respect where we can develop and strengthen the department together.

Research

Systems Biology

By combining mathematical models, prior knowledge, and experimental data, we unravel biological mechanisms and contribute to the development of new drugs and clinical tools.

Integrative Systems Biology (ISB)

We aim towards being the world leading group in the unravelling of systems-level mechanistic insights, using inter-connected M4 models for decision support in pharma and P4 medicine 鈥� thereby making a positive change in society.

Robust, Realistic and Reliable Measurements of Metabolism

New measuring techniques have always been one of the most important driving forces for medical development. The methods developed in this project could allow us to look further into the body: into the highly detailed metabolism of the human cells.

In the VR funded project 鈥淢4-health: the basis for general AI in health care鈥� we make way for a more general and flexible type of AI in health care.

Knowledge Driven Drug Development

In this project, financed by VR medicine鈥檚 investment in pharmacy, the researchers are working with AstraZeneca to develop a new type of knowledge driven drug development.

AI provides a more precise time of death

Artificial intelligence can be used to provide a more precise time of death, which can be crucial in e.g. murder investigations. The AI model is trained on so-called metabolites in thousands of blood samples from real deaths.

SEK 13 million for research into solving murders using AI

Was it murder, poisoning or was the death maybe caused by disease? Researchers have now been granted SEK 13 million from the Swedish Research Council to develop a methodology to solve crimes using detailed analyses and artificial intelligence.
