Broken bones almost always heal, and joint replacements integrate into the underlying bone. But what happens if they don't, and why? The PRIO group aims to understand the mechanisms behind healing disruptions to be able to prevent them in the future.

LiU collaborates with the University of California in osteoporosis study

The fact that a common drug against osteoporosis can also cause bone fractures created major concern following a study at 腦瞳憫. LiU will now lead the Swedish part of an international project to gain more knowledge about this.

New discoveries about fractures related to osteoporosis medicine

Medicinal treatment of osteoporosis sometimes lead to an unusual kind of breakage in the thigh bone. Why do these fractures occur, and how can they be tracked in a national quality register? These are the questions focussed on in two recent studies.
