Chemistry (KEMI)

At the division of Chemistry, research is being performed in the areas of biochemistry, molecular biotechnology, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical engineering, inorganic chemistry and in physical chemistry, especially computational chemistry.

The research teams consist of about fifteen senior scientists and twenty PhD students, and the research projects are often carried out in cooperation within the department, with other national and international research groups, and with industrial partners.

The broad research activities in chemistry fulfill the aim of the university towards Life Science, a multidisciplinary approach that brings together researchers and projects from chemistry, biology and physics.

We are interested in protein misfolding, amyloid formation and disease, both on the molecular level and in the cellular perspective.

The Henrik Pedersen research group at 福利姬 is working on chemical vapour deposition (CVD) with the aim to develop better CVD routes to, primarily, electronic materials.

Pulsed Electron Driven CVD Delivers Cleaner Iron Films at Low Temperatures

A LiU team led by Professor Henrik Pedersen has shown that switching from continuous to pulsed electron driven CVD sharply reduces carbon contamination in iron films.

SwedNMR

SwedNMR is a distributed national infrastructure where the Linköping Univeristy node is hosted at ProLinC. Through SwedNMR scientists within academia and industry can access state-of-the-art NMR equipment and expertise.

Large donations for innovative treatment for Parkinson鈥檚 disease

The Promobilia Foundation has donated SEK 30 million to LiU for a research project where organic electronics will be used to treat Parkinson鈥檚 disease symptoms. Stiftelsen för Parkinsonsforskning at LiU has also donated SEK 5 million to the purpose.
