The Student Activities Committee (SAC) of Region 8 (R8) The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has recognized the 腦瞳憫 Student Branch with the prestigious 2023 Regional Exemplary Student Branch Award. This accolade honors the exemplary efforts and dedication of the branchs volunteers throughout the year.

Gurjot Singh Gaba, an executive committee member and young professional, from Sweden Section accepted the award on behalf of the branch at Region 8 Student and Young Professional Congress (R8 SYP) held in Grenoble, France, on July 18, 2024. Congratulations to Suleman Khan, Chair of the Student Branch, Oksana Moryakova, Chair of the Young Professionals Affinity Group, and their teams for their outstanding achievements.

The IEEE Student Branch at Linköping University has actively engaged students and professionals through a series of technical visits and events aimed at advancing knowledge and skills in cutting-edge technologies. Notable activities include visits to the National Supercomputing Centre, and events focusing on cybersecurity, smart grids, and the development of 5G/6G technologies. Additionally, the branch has organized workshops on AI and Machine Learning using MATLAB, along with sessions dedicated to Women and Leadership, demonstrating a commitment to diversity and empowerment in the tech field.

The Regional Exemplary Student Branch Award, bestowed by the IEEE Region 8 Student Activities Committee (SAC), honors branches that not only meet but exceed the annual goals set by the committee. This award recognizes the Linköping University Student Branch for its outstanding contribution and leadership in fostering a vibrant technical community in 2023.

The recognition has greatly motivated the volunteers at the Linköping University Student Branch. Energized by this accolade, the branch is determined to further excel in organizing educational and innovative events that benefit both the technical community and its students. This award serves as a testament to the hard work and dedication of the branch's volunteers and sets a higher benchmark for future activities.

The LiU student branch operates under advisory of Professor Andrei Gurtov (ADIT division at IDA), who is presently the Chair of IEEE Sweden Section.
